The winter chills could not freeze the enthusiasm of the club members on the first social day of the new season. With what started off as a good number of willing workers on the Saturday it did not take long to transform the sleepy looking grounds into a well manicured lawn.
It was Mark Holden manning the level to ensure the new boat ramp gate was capable off standing a 20 cent piece on its end without topling. ( as we all know he gets peeved if its not level). Shawn Walker was on hand in the bob cat to ensure the holes were strategically
placed. After experiencing sharing the ride-on mower with Shawn I feel he has a bit of a control problem cause if you put one finger on the steering wheel it was quickly removed. Also a big thankyou to Troy and Bob Sparrow for manning the whipper snipper and Bob for being project manager after recovering from knee surgery. Good luck with your recovery Bob.
A honourable mention to Chris and Russell for all their shovelling work and Nathan for his welding skills and keeping Mark frustrated. By the end of Saturday arvo the only thing that looked better than the ski club grounds was the pure glass water beckoning everyone to come for a ski but not a boat in sight. A good roll up of members for Sundays social day were not deterred by the cooler weather as it was a race between Nathan and 11 year old Brad so see who could be first man on the water for the new season. It was the elder member Nathan who one through sheer size to earn the title off first club member on the water for the new season. Good to see Rod and the Munro crew and the Cartwright clan make the trip up from Ballina , I’m sure they all enjoyed themselves on the day , with Bruce winning the best stack of the day. Mrs Williams potato bake was a big hit lunch. Thanks to everyone for their help on the Saturday and also all that turned up on Sunday for a great day. Thanks to Chris for organizing the day and looked forward to the next.
